The holidays are here once more. Thanksgiving in America is today. Many of us spend time in the kitchen preparing family traditions waiting for everyone to join together. Others are visiting with friends and distant family. Yet, a few that are working to help others get through their day easier.
Thankful
I had a friend from Mexico ask me about Thanksgiving. He saw it as just another way to have a family reunion. Now corporations have been commercializing the holidays so much lately that true family traditions are beginning to fade. But Thanksgiving is more than just a reunion. More than just eating turkey and pumpkin pie. And more than just the beginning of Christmas shopping.
One tradition I try to keep with my family is to say what we are grateful for. But for me it is more than that. You see I will always be grateful to my family and friends. However, this year, I changed my career. I am grateful I was strong enough to push myself into taking this job. Grateful that I decided to pursue this line of employment. Because I am able to honestly state I love my job. I look forward to coming to work each day. Even with the hard days, I am having fun.
Silver Lining
I am also grateful that no matter how hard things get, I push myself to look beyond it. To find any positive thought and viewpoint. And to not bottle up the emotions. Being able to talk to others about what is stressing me out gives me the chance to release the tension. Knowing that I have the support I need, that is what I am really grateful for.
Grateful for the Blessing
Today I am grateful that I have a family that cares about me. Grateful for the friends I have made near me and those I have across the globe. I am grateful for the opportunity to write this blog for all of you. And I am grateful that each day, no matter if I am happy or sad, I still push myself to get out of bed and face the day. I still struggle daily with my insecurities and depression. But each day I remember all I have in my life and continue to stand tall.
Grateful to all of you, my loves.
