Today in the US, we are celebrating Thanksgiving. It is a time to reflect on what you are thankful for in your life. But for me, these last few years have been a roller coaster ride. It has left me thankful for so little and so much.
The last few years have taught me that in a moments notice, your life can change. The life you have been living for so many years, is no longer and now you have a new reality. And it is not just your life that is impacted.
Thankful for now
So, this year, I am thankful for right now. Because right now, I have so much. I have a family that loves me, friends that care about me and my family, and a job that respects me. Deciding to pursue a path in life focusing on mental health awareness and this blog. I have this today, right now. Thankful for something so little than means so much.
For the past
The hard part is taking a step back to see what I do have in my life to be thankful for. So many of us are struggling through losing loved ones, illnesses, stress, and so much more. But even in those struggles, there is something to be thankful for. Thankful for the time spent with someone you care about. Or thankful for to have another day with friends. Maybe you can be thankful that you have a job even though you do not like it.
Life’s rocky road
Life is hard enough each day, we need that one thing we are thankful for to hold onto. Thankful to see the sun rise. A chance to make one stranger smile today. This is a day to understand that we have so much in our lives to cherish. To know that we have climbed mountains and hiked through forests all to make it to the other side. Do we still have things we need to face? Are we still fighting against obstacles and feeling like we are running in the swimming pool? Absolutely.
Thankful for the good out of the bad
Life has its ups and downs. So, we need to cherish the good things in our lives. Hold onto them and never let them go. It is those good times that keep us going. Keep us moving forward. Be thankful for those good times in your life. Because I am thankful for today. For my family. My friends. Those that have cheered me on, respected me, and especially for all of you, my readers. Thank you.
With great warmth,
