Exploring the fabric of our stories one character at a time.

Just remember I am not you

I will probably make this week’s post short. Time management is not my friend today. But there is a message I want to share. So many times we come across a loved one or a friend or just someone we know that is in a situation similar to what we have already experienced. Ask every mother in the world about how many times they received “advice” from another mother because they “knew” what they were going through. You are not me and I am not you.

Situations are always going to feel similar. But the main piece that is different is the person. How I handle my stress and events in my life is very different than any other person. What my mind and my emotions do will be different. I will react differently to what triggers me.

So many people will offer suggestions, advice, or just tell you what to do, all because they were in a situation similar to yours. The best thing you can do is listen to your heart. Pay attention to your mind and your body. You are the only one that knows best on what is good for you. Doesn’t mean you can’t listen or try their suggestions. But always remember that they are only suggestions. You have the true power to decide.
