Exploring the fabric of our stories one character at a time.

Recently I found myself looking at my friends and family and seeing how they view life. Whether it is personal, career, financial, or their environment, there is always something that tries at our mental well-being. And for so many, it is not just one thing. Then there are too many of us that have too many things. Just trying to find a moment in time that brings us peace and happiness seems smaller and smaller. Do you have a nugget of happiness?

Happy Hobbies

Having hobbies can bring you that one moment in time. When you turn off all of the thinking about the worries of the day. Exercising, crafts, even listening to music can all help break away from the constant drumming of stress running through your mind. Something that offers a chance to stop the mental torment many of us go through.

Careers

For me, my job has become my break in overthinking. It has taken me many years, but I have found a career that I truly enjoy. One that I can be creative and use my analytical skills with. I actually look forward to coming to work and I am excited about what I have to do. My job has become that time in the day that pulls me away from all my other stress. And it doesn’t matter if my work stresses me out too. Because I feel strong and powerful when I tackle my goals.

Challenge

We all fight negativity in our lives every day. Between seeing it in the news, walking through the neighborhood, or just talking with others, struggle, hatred, and hurt are all around us. Then you add in the struggle we personally face, it is a wonder any one of us is smiling. It is this time we had to push harder to find those moments in our life that make us smile. Because the only person that can really make us happy, is us.

I have mentioned before, but our emotions are fully our choice. We can choose in every event how we feel and think. You are faced with an event that some could be angry about, but you choose to ignore it or just let it go. You have control over what you stress about and what you let go. This also mean you can control what makes you happy.

Choose Happy

There is one part though that I struggle with all of the time. That is going after what makes me happy and standing up for what makes me stressed. And the reason I struggle with it…it’s not easy. Many times we find that what makes us happy can be a challenge. It will take a lot of effort and in some cases be down right uncomfortable. Which means, you can find it be easier to let go of what makes you happy for just being content. And that is not much better.

So do me a favor and take some time to find your happy. Whether you have it in exercising, going for a walk, listening to music or finding your dream career. Find a time in your day to break away from the challenges and struggles of life and drown it out in a little happiness. Just a little something to make you smile. Because you deserve it!
