It is Okay Not to Understand

I was talking to a friend recently about things I am feeling and how my mind thinks about the world around me. This person commented (in a joking manner) that I was messed up in the head. Now, I did not take this in any other form than the fact that they truly did not understand what I was going through. They did not understand how my mind functioned and how something small can be a trigger of severe anxiety to me. I responded to my friend that it is an eye-opening experience when you hear me talk about myself …

Can you handle the changes in your life?

I have talked about how we need to start caring about ourselves a little more. About how the stresses in our daily lives can eat away, so we need to have outlets to release some of these emotions. Even talked about ways that we can use exercise, nutrition, and our hobbies to add some positivity into our lives. These are all great….but, what happens when you do start working on yourself? How do you handle the emotions, behaviors, and the thoughts that are now changing? What I am talking about I started working on myself when I started this blog …

How social is social media?

It seems like you are not someone unless you are on some form of social media. And it is like a new platform is developed every year. Facebook (or Meta), Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, TikTok, and I am sure there are many more. How many times have you heard comments and commercials like “you can easily find us on Facebook at…” or “come interact with your favorite star on Instagram!” The internet seems to become the place to find your favorites. But how social is social media? Social Media on My Mental Health As many know I am finishing up my …

What it all looks like

They are laughing, smiling, dancing around, but did you know they are fighting depression? Maybe they are sitting in the corner, quiet and reserved. Are you aware they are fighting anxiety? Mental health has a stigma in the world that a depressed person is always withdrawn and sad. That a person who has anxiety is always nervous and fidgety. We don’t always look and act like that. I look happy Over the last few weeks, I have laughed with friends and sang my heart out to rock music. I enjoyed some time with my friends and neighbors at a barbeque …

My brain won’t let me.

I was talking to my son a few days ago about how I wish he would listen to me better. Like when I tell him to do something, it is usually because it is teaching him something, keeping him safe, or guiding him to be respectful. I explained to him that lately it seemed he was more interested in doing what he wanted and would try to find a way to get what he wants done with or without doing what I asked. His response…”Mom, I’m trying to do what you say. But my brain won’t let me. It is …

We are all strong

When you hear the words strong and strength, you are probably picturing people that can lift weights. Strength is not always visible. Being strong is not always about a physical act. I know because every one of you reading this is strong. Strength is waking up in the morning and getting out of bed. A sign of strength is stepping foot out of your home and into the daylight. Being strong is making it through the last 24 hours and the 24 hours before. Strength is giving a friend a hug when they need one, even though you want to …

WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH

It is May again. Mental Health Awareness month. More and more ads are coming out about mental health. To make aware of those who suffer from depression, anxiety, PTSD, and so much more. In my honest opinion, we should be aware of this all year long. Growing up, we didn’t hear about depression and anxiety. Schools didn’t talk about it in health class. So why are we so focused on it now? WHY IS MENTAL HEALTH SO IMPORTANT Let me ask you this question, when you are sick with a cold or the flu, do you feel happy? How about …

Of am I stopping me? We all have some piece of an insecurity that holds us from some element in our lives. All at Once Recently, I had an episode of insecurities flood my …

Look how inspiration surrounds us

Since I started on this path about mental health, everywhere I turn I find inspiration. I go into Facebook, and I have post after post of quotes, tools to help sufferers battle anxiety, and companies reaching out to support anyone who needs it. Then I go to Instagram and TikTok, finding more quotes, videos, and complete strangers telling me that I am not alone in this world. Driving to work each morning, I have the radio up loud, singing to the song on my Pandora stations. Sitting back and really listening to the lyrics to my favorite bands, expressing their …
