Exploring the fabric of our stories one character at a time.

In a world full of stress, disappointment, challenges and just a constant headache, finding those moments we can relax and feel comfortable makes a world of difference. Just a moment maybe all we need at the time. But it gives us that much needed break away from chaos to breathe.

Breathe

I know someone that has been dealing with stress at work for years. Never fully understanding what his role is or what the ultimate goal can be. Only to have it all disrupted only 6 months ago. When he found himself in his hometown, it felt comfortable. Yes, the town changed, but the memories remain. Before he realized, he was walking around homes he grew up in and visions of simpler times. That moment to breathe.

Even kids need moments, especially as growing teenagers. So, when a child has a chance to play with their friends or decides to see a therapist, they too find their moment. Teenagers are facing puberty, hormones, emotions, being faced with questions they didn’t have to consider until now. And then having someone caring, willing to listen to every word, and not have to worry how your parents would feel. That’s their moment to breathe.

For me, many of my battles are within my mind. Little triggers of comments or actions from others have me feeling insecure about who I really am. None of the others are doing anything maliciously. But it doesn’t stop me from feeling like I am not special or wanted. I get my moments from my friends. The ones that mean a lot, but I don’t get the chance to talk to often. The ones that know me, almost as I know myself. Where I can let go and really be me. My moment to breathe.

We all have little comforts in our lives that give us just a little peace. It usually is not much. But it is enough for us to get the breath we need to conquer our chaos. That little break, that moment to reset.

Breathe.
