Exploring the fabric of our stories one character at a time.

It is very easy for each of us to get used to routines and comfort in the usual sights and people. Unfortunately, this includes environments that are not healthy to us too. This is where addictions gain strength in our lives. The feelings, the emotions, the small moments of happiness or pleasure. You begin to chase those feelings at any chance you can.  Before you know it, you have a comfort zone that is hurting you more than helping.

Comfort

We all have one, a comfort zone. Don’t really want to admit it though. Deep down we know it is not healthy or maybe actually hurting us. But when faced with a choice of the healthier way (harder to do) or the comfortable way (easier to do), we choose comfort. I know I have done this many times. Even frustrated many friends because I chose comfort instead of something I know would make me happier.

When we are faced with life-changing events, it is still hard for us to move away from those years of unhealthy eating. Or have to start taking care of things ourselves. Whatever may be the reason, doing something new is difficult for us. Then we start finding excuses, ways to manipulate the situation or need for the change. Anything we can to find a way to little pieces or not change at all. Before we know it, it becomes too late.

Danger

So many of use are guilty of this. Becoming too comfort in our comfort zone. For me, the change would be dramatic and the anxiety and fear alone stop me from moving forward. It feels like a panic attack from the thought of it. I know for others it is a feeling of worthlessness or unneeded. When in reality, they are highly respected and loved.

Change is scary. No matter who you are, change is difficult. Small changes are much easier to handle than dramatic changes that impact lives. And even though the change would make you healthier, happier, or offer you opportunities for a better life, it is still scary. Just do me a favor and don’t lose sight. Remember what brought you here to the crossroads. The changes that you can make for a healthier and happier life. And most importantly, all of the people that are standing beside you to support you. Those people that love you and can’t wait to see you glow.
