So, my son is moving on from elementary school to junior high school after the summer break. He keeps telling me how much he doesn’t want to grow up. He wishes he could be a kid for the rest of his life. He doesn’t want to be an adult and have to do adult things. The problem is, he cannot stop the change. Life doesn’t stop. Time doesn’t stop. As much as we wish everything can stay the same, it will change.

Personal
Just the other day, my mom commented that she liked this new Jennifer 2.0. So, I had to ask. How have I changed? She said I was no longer this quiet and meek shell of a person. And she was right. Over my life I have gone from a super quiet young girl to a teenager that was trying to figure out herself. Then I became an adult and the quiet shell came back. But this time it was deeper and a thicker shell. It was only 5 years ago that my change really began.
I may have had a friend reach out and talk with me. Even my family would check on me. But the change really didn’t grow stronger until I embraced it and encouraged it. When I saw that the change was needed, I used it. By seeking therapy, starting this blog, going back to school to learn more. I used the change to build my strength and focused on the positive. Because today, I still have insecurities. I still have my doubts and quietness. But I also found my voice. I found my spirit within myself.

Together
The people in my life become a piece of me. Those that have taught me lessons about what I deserve and my worth. Some have tried to empower me but could not weather the storms with me. And those that are still beside me today. They are the ones that cheer me on, pick me up, and stand behind me in strength.
Change never stops. It is how we use the change that defines our lives. Jobs change all the time. When a company changes executives, the regular employees face added change. Some may find it frustrating or hurt by it. But when you take the time to see the big picture and find, even just one piece of positive from it, then that is a win. Because the world doesn’t stop. Life doesn’t stop. And change will happen. So how will you use it?
